Duomo Milan Cathedral and Archaeological Area

The main cathedral and the archaeological area are open every day from 9:00 a.m. and close to 7:00 p.m. Duomo Milan’s opening hours are the same every day. 

This means that you can visit the beautiful interior of the cathedral, the crypt, and the archaeological site located beneath the cathedral until the last entry at 6:10 p.m. (closing operations usually begin at that time, but they are typically somewhat lax).

Duomo Milan Rooftops

The Duomo terrace opening times allow you to see rooftops as well which gives you amazing views of the city and its skyline.

  • Monday to Thursday: Open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday to Sunday: Open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

As with the cathedral, the last admission is at 6:00 p.m.

Duomo Museum

The Duomo Museum is at Piazza del Duomo 12 inside the Royal Palace. It gives you a look into the history and art of the Duomo Milan. The museum is open every day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., except Wednesdays, when it is closed (except Wednesday, January 7, which will be open for special hours).

Ticket sales for the museum end at 5:50 p.m. or 6:00 p.m., depending on visitor numbers, and the last physical entry is allowed until 6:10 p.m. The closing protocol for the rooms begins at 6:30 p.m., at which point staff begin to direct visitors towards the exit.

Baptistery of St. Stephen

The Baptistery of St. Stephen is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is part of the cathedral complex and gives you a chance to see the early Christian history of Milan. You can explore this historic site to learn more about the beginnings of Christianity in the city.

How Long Do You Spend at the Duomo Milan?

How much time you need at the Duomo Milan depends on what you want to see. If you just visit the cathedral, the archaeological area, and the rooftops you will need between 1.5 and 4 hours. If you want to explore more and include a visit to the Duomo Museum plan on spending three to four hours.
